Captured My Heart

Hey guys =) Hope everyone has had an awesome weekend. So I was feeling like doing something a little different and decided to join in at Bird Is The Word along with Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge as their challenges are always a little out of the box. So the challenge at AFSC is to scrap your first love. Well I don't have a photo of my first real life love and probably wouldn't scrap him anyway. So I have chosen my first celebrity non-sexual love/girl crush, Tori Amos. The challenge at BITW was to use the word heart, so I thought these two challenges worked perfectly together!








I have always been someone that appreciates music and film that tends to go a little deeper ( and darker sometimes). At a time when pop culture was very superficial with the likes of Boy George and Wham, she was this amazing feminist eccentric enigma who dared to write about things like rape, miscarriage and relationships that were more complicated than just boy meets girl. Her songs were like a cryptic emotional rollercoaster that you could get totally lost in. Despite not having any musical talent whatsoever, as a teen I always imagined myself perched next to her in front her Bösendorfer, singing along with her ethereal classically trained voice. I am still a huge fan, at least up to the late 90's where she began to join the ranks of overly produced commercial artists that I just 'don't get'.


I will leave with you a song from my favourite album. Not everyones cup of tea I know but I just love her xox

    This is stunning!!! Wow! Just wow!

    I will admit I was far to shallow to appreciate Tori Amos at the time, she has the most amazing voice. In my defence I did graduate from Lionel Ritchie and went onto Talking Heads and Edie Brickell (but still loved Soft Cell and The Hooters...) Ok enough remininscing.

    So I was talking on the phone w/my sis and she told me you had an amazing new page- SO, I just had to check it out!!
    And she was RIGHT.
    This is just awesome, Georgia! Love the colors, the stitching, the gears & other fun elements...just one of those layouts that are made to be studied.
