Scrapbookit Week 2 Challenge

Afternoon all =) I really have to move away from my craft desk/laptop lol. All I've done the past 7 days is scrap. I think I need to put a lock on my craft room door so I can get some work done to pay for all my scrapping stuff lol. So another challenge, suprised? I came across the Scrapbookit blog this one via Chantel's blog and loved the sketch so here is my take. I rotated it to suit my photos...

And another one I did just for me at the the same time. My first LO in a 8.5 x 11 size...

A2Z Scraplets October Challenge

I thought I might have another go at the A2Z Scraplets challenge this month as I really loved the sketch! So this layout is completely experimental for me. It only takes 30 seconds of flicking through my blog to discover that I haven't really got one particular scrappy style, I love them all. But to improve my skills I feel like I really need to narrow down a style. The one I had yet to tackle is artsy grunge/minimalist. For this layout my focus was to recreate the sketch ( I rotated it on it's side) using mostly art mediums instead of paper and embellishment. I have to say it felt so much more creative doing it this way than just working around patterned paper! When it came to embellishment, I was a little stumped. My stash is leaning towards  flowers and bling and pretty ribbons etc, none of which really fit this style. I may have to go shopping ( like I need an excuse!) lol. I have zero ability to judge my own work, until someone tells me otherwise I never know if something is a train wreck or genius ( yeah unlikely!). So I will have to wait and see I guess. What do you think, not my thing or should I work on it? (You can be blatantly honest, I don't offend easily)....

Delightful Inspiration October Challenge

I spotted this great sketch last night at Artful Delight and with just a few hours to spare, have managed to complete a page. My 'little boy' (who now towers over me) is growing up so fast.Not only did he venture out on his own this weekend but also got dropped of at his 'girlfriends'. Oh my, at 14...I guess all the fun starts here!

Wow it feels like I haven't posted anything for ages but it really has only been a week. I have been busy creating but mostly just for small forum challenges instead of blogs this week. I thought I would share a few of my creations....

Scrap That Song October Challenge

Another new challenge site for me this month, Scrap That Song. The challenge is to create a layout inspired by a song chosen by the DT. I have chosen , You Gotta Have Friends by Bette Midler. A great concept and lots of fun creating for this one!

I've just gone to upload it to their site though and the linky is closed? Ahhh. Not having much luck this month. I have also created a page for a forum I don't seem to be able to register to and created something for a challenge 6 months old haha. Maybe I need a break, its doing my head in!

Bird Is The Word Together Challenge

Looks like I'm lucky first with my Bird Is The Word challenge entry this month! The challenge this time around is to use the word 'Together'. Not long after this challenge went live yesterday, my parents dropped around for lunch. I don't seem them often enough and it is always lots of fun to see them. I felt totally inspired after they left and knew I would have to scrap a photo of them last night and this challenge was perfect!

In other news..I'm a bit late with this one as it was announced last week, but anyway...I have been invited to be become a Design team member over at Show Us Your Stuff. I'm so excited to get started, they always have heaps of great challenges and I love the handmade spin!

Oh and while I'm here, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend some good challenge blogs? I can be a bit fussy lol. So all black background and kraft is out, I don't do color palettes as I have to go and buy specifically for it and it seems like too much work. I don't like random draws as well. Oh and I have a thing where for most sites, if I get a win the month before, I don't enter the next month. So A2Z Scraplets, Scrap For Help, Let's Get Shabby, and Screen To Scrap are out for October). I am also not big on multi photo layouts. It is a pain for me to get photos printed in a smaller size than 4x6. I need to send away to get them done and it takes forever!

So ladies, what's left...I'm bored and I need more challenges. I started one last night from Inspired Blueprints after doing a google search for challenges, forgot to read the date didn't I, it was a challenge from May..DOH! Blonde moment =) 

Scrapbookers Anonymous

Morning gorgeous girls! So here is my first ever entry to Scrapbookers Anonymous. This months challenge is to use die cuts. I don't own a die cut machine but have added pre-cut die cuts to my page. And am proud to say I really worked my bits and pieces scrap stash for this one. Is it just me or is there something really satisfying about using up that last little bit of a collection that seemed to go on forever! There is a little bit of everything here on there, BO Bunny, 7 Gypsies, MME, Graphic 45....

Stuff 2 Scrap October Challenge

There is a great new challenge just posted up at Stuff 2 Scrap a few days ago and thought I would play along. The challenge is to include 4 patterned papers, 3 flowers, 2 Tags & some chipboard ( Stuff 2 Scrap if you have it). So here is my entry, the journalling is a bit hard to read in the photos. It reads: In Miss Selfridges London, on a 3 day marathon to find the perfect leavers dress. It's the first time I have had a chance to play with the new Glitz Design Dance In The Sunshine range. I think I'm loving it just as much as the Vintage Blue now!

It's Official !!!

Well I can now officially announce what I have been itching to tell the world for the past week! I am so thrilled and honored to have been invited to join the best design team ever over at Once Upon A Sketch. I think I have said it before here, but will say it again, OUAS is very dear to my heart as Nadia and all the other design team members really gave me encouragement after my first challenge submission ( which was at OUAS). As the 'newbie' over there I can't wait to tap into some of the great experience and talent that the DT members have to offer and to be a part of this brilliant challenge site =)

My first layout as a design team member goes live on the 15th Nov ( yes I am so excited I have done it already lol). I hope to see lots of familiar faces over there joining in on the challenge fun!

White With One October Challenge

Lots of new challenges for the start of the month to choose from. This month I thought I would try a few that are a bit different to my normal style and push myself to try new things, guess that is why they are called "challenges" I suppose DOH! So here is my first ever entry to White With 1. The challenge is to use only black + white and some paint/mist. You have to get over and have a look at the DT examples, they are just breathtaking! B&W never looked so good.

So this is a cute photo of my step kids taken on a family holiday on the Gold Coast at one of the theme parks..
