Do you ever have a vision of a spectacular crafty project in your head but when it comes to actually doing it, the results are nothing even close?
Well this is mine. I had seen a few altered light bulbs turned into hot air balloons floating around pinterest. They looked amazing!!! So I had a crack and well...
I thought this would be a perfect 'Ingvild Bolme' project, with her cute little steampunk embellishments, and that was probably the only part I was right about.
Thinking this would be a quick project, 6 weeks later and hmmm...To start with I borrowed my hubbies soldering iron and mini blow torch. He promptly followed this up with a fire extinguisher and fire blanket on my desk ( the man knows me too well!). So about $25 worth of globes later, burnt fingers and feeling somewhat deflated, I retired my industrial tools and opted for the crafty ones.
First problem, due to medication and drinking copious amounts of coffee per day, my hands tend to shake like a detoxing alcoholic with parkinsons. So trying to do something of this size was challenging! Secondly, I never seemed to have what I wanted, so would buy stuff, then it wouldn't work out, so I would buy more stuff. This was a recycling project right ...
So this is what $50 worth of light globes and 6 weeks of going cross eyed gets you...
A very sad looking hot air balloon...
I had great visions of a ton more embellishments and decorations but my poor little 2Crafty chipboard cog wasn't have any of it and has the sags big time. A little too embarrassed to hand this in as DT work. I thought I would share my failure with you guys :)
So what's your greatest crafty flop?
